PCAT ingests bulk downloads from the Federal Docket Management System (FDMS)

A core function of PCAT is to ingest archives (ex., .zip files) that contain bulk downloads from the US Federal Docket Management System (FDMS). PCAT also handles collections of e-mails bulk exported from Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, or other email clients. There are also XML, Microsoft Excel, CAT-style, and generic .csv file ingest options.

Two key questions

Three simple steps to ingest your archive

Once you have created a project, select “Import Archive” on the Project Management page. “FDMS Archive File” is the default on the drop-down menu. You have the option to name your archive, otherwise it will use the file name. Click on the “Upload” button.

The default is set to ingest an standard bulk FDMS download. However, you can also ingest CAT-style datasets as well as Wordpress and other standard RSS feeds.

Any text dataset properly formatted (.txt, XML, HTML) can be uploaded in the PCAT system.
